2020-09-21::2020-09:23: GHI, GTI are erroneous. Estimated GHI is 5 or more for these days.

2020-08-18: Solar panels back to horizontal

2020-07-28::2020-08-17: Vertical solar panel test

2020-07-15::2020-07-27: Solar charging offline for array reconfiguration.

2020-06-02: Converter now has Maximum Power Point Tracking.

2020-05-30::2020-05:31: GHI, GTI is invalid due to fault.

2020-04-09: Converter operating with no MPPT at all.

2020-04- -20 GTI is invalid. Global Horizontal Irradiance and Global Tilt Irradiance data is for reference only.

Known faults are 2020-05-31

2020-03-01: Routine solar charging begins. Active MPPT is not implemented, PV panel is loaded at a constant voltage. This can give good results if the voltage is chosen wisely. The converter must be manually switched on at dawn, causing some energy in the morning to go uncollected. Some morning energy is used to recharge the 12v battery. Some evening energy is lost due to shading.

The values here currently do not account for energy converted from gasoline. Our test vehicle rarely uses gasoline. When it does happen, it often results in abnormally high regen kwh.

Insolation measurements are from Sandia National Laboratories. Global Horizontal Irradiance and Global Tilt Irradiance are measures of the available solar energy that day. Solar panels are rated at a light intensity of 1kW/m2, so the kWh/m2/day can be thought of as the number of hours of sunlight present that day.
